This week our girl Katie Maillis celebrated a birthday and we asked you to go like her fashion line page, Streetheart, to get her to 1,000 Likes. She’s almost there, so be sure to go like it! Also celebrating a birthday this week, the TechShop in East Liberty…here’s to innovation and talented artists in the 412!
Ok, so here’s the not so good news….somehow Pittsburgh made the list of Top US Cities for Douchebags, ranking 14 out of 100, granted the science behind it was questionable. We also made TIME’s list of Top “Selfiest” Cities (meaning we post a lot of selfies online) ranking 60 out of 100, perhaps there’s a correlation?
On to the GOOD listicles….once again we’ve been noted for our emerging foodie scene in USA Today, while Monterey Pub in the Mexican War Streets made the cut for Best Irish Pubs in the US. Speaking of pubs, the Bearded Swede compiled a list of the Best Bars in Pittsburgh…although it’s really just a list of bars in the Southside. Mr. Swede you missed some hidden gems, we’ve got great bars all over the city!
On a serious note, after the tragedy at SXSW many people were concerned for our fellow Pittsburghers and their safety. Check out the City Paper’s list of everyone who has been confirmed safe.
Let’s talk geography, bikers will soon have protected bike lanes as they traverse our ‘nonsensical roads’, which WESA tried to make sense of for us. Plus, Ruth Ann Dailey explained the many sides of the North Side for us.
