We’ve gathered the best in PGH news for you once again! This week we celebrate the best cake in America, get a laugh out of the new “Cutch Hair” commercial, and see two sides to Pittsburgh’s real estate market. Scroll down for more news in the 412!


Let’s start off with the Andrew McCutchen “Cutch Hair” commercial that come out this week…it even features Mayor Peduto sportin’ Cutch Hair!


Burnt Almond Torte

In food & drink news, it’s no surprise to locals that Prantl’s burnt almond cake was named best cake in America! Also portable draft system PortaBeer founded by Pittsburgher Albert Ciuksza Jr made its debut on Bar Rescue.


Monday was Jerry Weber Day in honor of the face of Jerry’s Records, a Pittsburgh vinyl institution. Speaking of music, a recent map was published of America’s musical preference by genre….apparently we like a mix of everything in the Burgh.



The Hot Mass “secret techno sex parties” are not so secret anymore, as Thump did a nice write up on them this week.  And if you prefer “hipster” bars to “sex parties” check out CBS’s list of Best hipster bars in Pittsburgh.


Rents are rising quickly in Pittsburgh, thanks to our booming renaissance. Not to worry though, we were also named one of the world’s best long term real estate investments– so just buy instead of rent!



Church Brew Works made a list of places that have been transformed into a bar from something else… now they can add Wigle Whiskey’s new barrel house, opening in a former produce wholesaler on the North Side, to the list!
