Vitamin Water Uncapped

As if the upcoming weekend weren’t exciting enough, Vitamin Water had to send it into overdrive with this fantastic 3-day event series featuring local artists, musicians, and a whole lotta Vitamin Water. Uncapped is a pop up event that Vitamin Water has been curating across the country. From Cincy, to Dallas, to Las Vegas and Seattle, these hip, one-of-a-kind events are geared towards fun-loving twentysomethings. I had the opportunity to attend one this past May in Detroit, and I’d have to say, it was pretty bumpin’. This brand is one who knows how to build a rapport with their audience, booking acts like The Hood Internet, Kevin Saunderson and Royal Bangs. They often couple the art/music aspect of the event with some type of sporting activity, such as skateboarding, or in the case of Pittsburgh’s session, Down and Derby – a roller skating party that you’re lucky to leave without at least one tipsy wipeout.

We got to attend a sneak peek at the event space last night. Gene Stovall, fresh offa Broadway, wooed our ears with his unique blend of hip-hop and impressive acoustic covers. I was really digging the way they dressed up the space, as well as all the awesome flair we took home. I got this sweet rubber snap watch, in my favorite color of blue, and will be wearing the shit out of it fo’sho. Tonight’s agenda includes a Garfield Artworks and VIA-curated sesh featuring New Zealand-based Bachelorette, as well as Rivka, Middle Children and Hidden Twin. More information can be found on the event page. What’s up with Bachelorette, you ask? Check out this broad in action:

Whoa. Would you expect anything less from the VIA folks? I think not. The music will be complimented by the a/v stylings of many Pittsburgh artists, such as Di Ay Battad, Vj Fagnelly, Jerstin Crosby, Ben Tabas, Revy, Casey Hallas, Dan Wilcox, Terry Boyd, Julie Mallis, M. Callen, Ryan Emmett, Kevin Ramser and Audra Wist.

Saturday’s line up includes an all-ages bmx, skateboard and roller skating mashup presented by One Up Skate Shop and Plank Eye Board Shop. This event will take place from noon to four in a parking lot outside the YMCA. A special edition of Down & Derby will occur late night, with the beloved DJ Bonics on the decks. Show up and give the fellas some love since they love all of you enough to give you a double dose of skate action this month. For the full 411 on the weekend haps, including address, parking information, full lineup and sponsors, head on over to their page. Shout out to our partners over at Iron City who will be providing attendees with delicious brews throughout the evening, as well as Clique Vodka. Rumor has it the slice herself will be b-tending, so if for nothing else, come to keep me company!
