Tokyo Police Club and 1,2,3 Play CMU!

Cool show alert! Locals 1,2,3 are opening up for Tokyo Police Club this Saturday at CMU’s Weigand Gym. CMU has a reputation for bringing top notch acts in for their students, but us non-students can benefit from this too, as tickets are $10 for the general public. If you’re a student, then it’s free, and I suppose that’s the least they can do for those of you who will have to sell your right arm later in life to pay back your student loans.

So yeah, 1,2,3. If you aren’t hip to them yet, get familiar! They’re rising stars on the indie music circuit. Fresh off of a series of shows at this year’s CMJ, 1,2,3 are quickly proving that you don’t have to sell out to be successful. They do things their way, and why not? Their way seems to be just damn fine.

We’re a fan of this video, which was shot right here in Pittsburgh and one of their most popular:

Ah! They’re so good. They share a label with another band I love, Local Natives. And it doesn’t hurt that their lead singer is foxy as a mofo. He’s got that rare swag when he performs.

Oh yeah, and there’s Tokyo Police Club too. They’re kinda good. I guess. (heh)

I think it’s pretty cool that YouTube now knows when bands have a gig in your city and let you know when you watch vids. Cool feature. The world is so smart. And you’ll be smart to go to this on Saturday. Pick up a CMU student. You’ll go far.
