Chance the Rapper at Altar Bar

chanceBarely out of his teens, 20-year-old Chance the Rapper has transformed himself from a suspended high school student into Rolling Stone‘s Hottest MC of 2013 and one of Chi-Town’s newest up-and-coming rappers.

 

Only two short years ago, he was still in high school. Following a 10-day suspension during the spring of his senior year, Chance went to work and released his first mixtape #10Day, which was downloaded over 50,000 times from DatPiff.

 

His newest mixtape, Acid Rap, released only six months ago, stirred up such a buzz he’s garnered attention from some of the most well known rappers in the game.

 

Lil’ Wayne – Tunechi himself – featured the up-and-coming youngin’ on his much hyped mixtape Dedication 5. And if that’s not enough, for the past year, he’s been touring with self-proclaimed “Rap God” Eminem and rising rappers Kendrick Lamar and Macklemore. Now, with his increasing success, he’s headlining his own North American tour with a stop in the 412.
 

 

Chance’s Acid Rap, has a psychedelic, jazz-influenced track list featuring artists like Twista, Action Bronson and Childish Gambino. Since its release, Acid Rap has become extremely popular. Receiving over 250,000 downloads, it has been certified platinum by DatPiff, putting Acid Rap in the same league as mixtapes by artists like Lil’ Wayne, J. Cole, Wale, Meek Mill, Chris Brown, and Kid Cudi.
