Mac Miller #1

Mac Miller’s Blue Slide Park is the first independently-distributed debut album by an act to hit No. 1 on the Billboard charts since 1995. Quite a feat for an artist who hasn’t even hit 21 yet! Best of all, the indie rap darling is from Pittsburgh, and much of the city has slithered its way into Miller’s charming, quality rap songs. He’s also on the cover of Billboard this month. You can read the feature over at their website. Whether you love him or don’t quite get the hype, Mac joins the ranks of fellow Pgh natives Wiz Khalifa and Girltalk as a music powerhouse.

My appreciation for Mac Miller began after seeing his video for “Kool Aid & Frozen Pizza”, which is in my opinion, a great subject for a song. Call it the Pgh version of “Combination Pizza Hut & Taco Bell”.

Here’s a secret. Did you know you can download almost his entire catalog on The Pittsburgh Scene? Now ya do. You’ll have to cough up some dough for the new one, though.

If you didn’t manage to snab tickets to his two sold-out dates at Stage AE on December 9th and 10th, sit tight. We might be giving one away here in the near future. Until then, listen up!
