Introducing: The Iron City Sound Finalists
It’s time to reveal the finalists for the Iron City Sound Contest! With an overwhelming response of more than 140 entries, Pittsburgh Brewing Company was delighted by the level of interest, which exceeded expectations. The contest was open to DJs/producers, solo artists and bands of all genres, who are at least 21 years of age, and reside in Pittsburgh or the surrounding regions.

The Composure has taken a simple foundation of sweet pop-punk, and built layers of infectious rhythm, soaked in Menotiades’ sugary melody.
Danielle Barbe is a young, solo rock artist from a small town south of Pittsburgh.
Formula 412 is an edgy, aggressive, five-piece band that blends elements of rock, hip-hop, soul, jazz, and electronic sensibilities into their music.
The Harlan Twins
The Harlan Twins are a five-piece band from the East End of Pittsburgh and have been supplying the city with charming Americana and folk-tinged rock and roll since 2008.
Harmon Creek is an all-female country/pop/rock duo formed in the Summer of 2007.
The Long Time Darlings
The Long Time Darlings, formed in October 2008, have a classic rock feel and high-energy showmanship.
Mace Ballard, an up-and-coming pop-punk band, is built on top of a raw, old-school punk rock spirit.
Of An Empire
Of An Empire, as a rock band, invokes a sound compared to Kings of Leon, David Bowie, The Secret Machines, Dead Confederate, U2, Radiohead, and Black Rebel Motorcycle Club.
Soulful singer/songwriter Tarra Layne Birdsall grew up outside of Pittsburgh, singing in choirs and competing, which heightened her desire to live her dream on stage.
Tracksploitation is local DJ duo Jordan Taylor (jct45) and Joe Kennedy (Professor A.S.A.P), who specialize in an eclectic “mash-up” style of live producers/DJs.
Triggers, comprised of formers members of local rock and roll acts Monarchs and The Yous, brings together the diverse and sometimes conflicting personalities and tastes of each member, resulting in an eclectic batch of songs, sounds, and ideas.
Iron City Sound fosters the advancement of local musicians, spotlights regional and national acts in Pittsburgh, and blends Pittsburgh’s hometown music culture and Iron City Beer into one mighty, satisfying groove. Launched in Spring of 2011, Iron City Sound has sponsored over 100 events, as well as 5 local up-and-coming musicians: Kellee Maize, DJ Bonics, 1,2,3, Bear Cub and Dream Job.
