Electro-pop Duo Hank & Cupcakes Grace Lava Lounge for Record Release Show

CFG Prom LROn June 18, Brooklyn-based indie duo Hank & Cupcakes will continue their year long record release tour for their new album “Ca$h 4 Gold” at Pittsburgh’s Lava Lounge. The show kicks off with several artists joining the group for opening support, including The Molecule Party, Roulette Waves and Little War Twins.H&C

Originally from Tel Aviv, Israel and Melbourne, Australia, Hank & Cupcakes are a husband-and-wife duo consisting of Sagit “Cupcakes” Shir and Ariel “Hank” Scherbacovsky. Formed in 2008, their band name derives from notorious American writer, Charles “Hank” Bukowski, and one of his many lovers named “Cupcakes.”

The duo creates music that intertwines rock and pop music with the absence of guitars or synthesizers. While pounding on her drums with emotion, Cupcakes serves as the lead vocalist, while Hank plays bass guitar with an overload of pedals. MTV has named them a “fresh new artist with an infectious blend of electro pop goodness,” while Huffington Post stated that it’ll be “the most fun you will have listening to any band in the new year.”
