David Byrne & St. Vincent at the Palace Theatre
You might have grown up a Talking Heads fan. If so, it’s likely you consider David Byrne to be a musical genius and would jump at the chance to see him in a live setting. It’s also possible you enjoy the music of Annie Clark, AKA St. Vincent, who began her career as a part of the offbeat Polyphonic Spree. You might even be a big enough fan to know that she toured with Sufjan Stevens and was part of his band before going solo. It’s possible you like both the Talking Heads and St. Vincent. It’s possible you only like one or the other. Either way, any combination of these circumstances makes it likely that you are going to their show this Sunday at The Palace Theatre in Greensburg.
Or not. Tickets are a stifling $60 to $80 bucks a pop before fees. Not to mention, you have to truck it to Greensburg, though The Palace Theatre is a delightful place to see a show if seating is your thang. The ticket price has deterred many fans who might otherwise go, as St. Vincent has sold out every show she’s played in Pittsburgh for the past few years and adding David Byrne to the mix makes it a no-brainer.
Their 2012 album Love This Giant is the key to this equation, as the duo’s recent appearance at Bonnaroo was named one of the festival’s best by Billboard. The pair is touring in support of the album they made together, but have now made the extra effort to learn each others’ songs to really get fans’ panties in a bunch.
We hope this video will help tip your iceberg in the right direction. You certainly won’t regret it.
The show happens this Sunday, June 30 at 8PM. Tickets can be purchased here.
