The Winter Wunderground Giveaway
Ironically, this post arrives on the coldest day of our lifetimes. Why not embrace all of winter’s sub-zero glory and jump on board for our latest giveaway, two tickets to Touchfaster‘s Winter Wunderground this Saturday at the Rex Theater, which has replaced their annual Winter Solstice. We hadn’t realized this is the fourth year of wonderful events from the folks at Touchfaster, who just keep getting better when it comes to providing quality entertainment from local artists and presenting them in unique formats.
So what’s new this season compared to Touchfaster showcases of yore? Plenty. They’ve got a new crop of artists to share with attendees. Participants include Justin Wujcik, Zack Emma, Keith J Schmiedlin, Casey Worthing, Jay A. Grassel, Kara ZuZu, Schmemily Lowery, Ashley Bouton, Diego Byrnes, and Tyler Rahl. There’s also, of course, Touchfaster’s very own Pierce Marratto, who has graciously decided to donate a print to the lucky winner of this giveaway! Be sure to read to the end for more details.
Perhaps the most exciting aspect of this one, however, are the six live painters that will be accompanying the live music during the show. Bands are no strangers to these showcases, as performances from some of Pittsburgh’s best talents are the norm. They’ve decided to take things a step further and couple six artists with musical entertainment. “Seeing six talented artists synchronizing their work with each other and the live music is different and fun” says Rachel Vigliotti, Touchfaster’s Director of Marketing and Operations. Participating artists include James Gyre, Natiq Jalil, Matt Hunter, Morgan Mikula, Brad Bianchi, and Kyle Anthony Adams.
As for the bands, well, the lineup is killer as usual, and includes Flux Capacitor, Wreck Loose, Chris Vipond and the Stanley Street Band, and Derek Woodz BAND.
This crew always does a great job with pre-coverage, so head here to check out some of the great video interviews they’ve conducted with the participating artists, and head over to their website to read even more about these talented folks. Additional entertainment includes body painting by Mollie Stofan, animation projection by Adam Chizmar, a balcony airbrush art set up by Steven M Yeager, contests, and more cool stuff, we’re sure!
We’ve got a lot of homies in this one, so we’re happy to pay the $10 bones required for entry. You can do the same and buy your tickets here, or you can try your hand at our giveaway by leaving a comment below. Tell us what you’re looking forward to the most about this event, and you’ll be automatically entered for a chance to win. We’re picking a winner Friday, so be on the lookout for us hittin’ you up! If you’re selected as our lucky winner, you’ll be able to pick up your print at the show directly from Pierce, the artist. We’ll provide you with more deets on that once you win!
