Some would classify Lotus as an instrumental electronic jam band, but with the recent addition of vocals, as well as the launch of their latest release, Build, back in February, Lotus has managed to catapult their sound into a tighter, more complex direction. Build utilized live drums, guitar, organ, and horns from the band Rubblebucket during the recording process and relied heavily on vinyl breaks, house and big-beat for their latest masterpiece.
Lotus hits Mr. Smalls June 7th and 8th for their next 10th anniversary show and will be joined by openers James Gyre on the 7th and Keeb$ on the 8th. And for a bit of nostalgia and added awesomeness, they’ll be playing their album Nomad in its entirety on Saturday night, which was recorded at Mr. Smalls Recording Studio in 2004. How baller is that?
