The Full Bloom Dance Party and Giveaway
We love being neighbors with Kelly-Strayhorn Theater here in the ever changing community of East Liberty. The theater is experiencing its own renaissance in recent years, bolstering its neighborhood’s expanding amenities.
Full Bloom was voted as one of the Best Parties of the Year in 2011 by the Tribune Review, and Pittsburgh has some great arty parties to contend with! The event benefits their East Liberty LIVE! Summer programming, which features diverse and exciting summer programs engaging patrons of all ages. From dance classes and performances to steel drum concerts and children’s theater, all LIVE! programs are only $10, making culture affordable to the masses.
But back to the not to miss party that kicks it all off! Full Bloom offers an evening full of dancing, cocktails, hors d’oeuvres, performances and more! The Spotlight Reception, beginning at 7pm, will feature several collaborative performances including Herman “Soy Sos” Pearl and Geña. To reserve tickets for the Spotlight Reception by phone, contact Michelle Zaffary at 412-363-3000 x317.

At 9pm the Dance Party kicks off with DJ Soulstrings playing some Baltimore-inspired funk while Get Down Gang hits the dance floor with some b-boy moves, followed by headliner DJ Kalkutta with a can’t stop dancing set. We had a chance to check her out at KST earlier this year for the SUNSTAR festival (see some pics from the party below), and all I can say is everyone in the room was entranced with her perfect blend of classic and new school dance tracks. Did I mention this broad is stunning, I mean absolutely gorgeous. She apparently turned down a Bollywood career to pursue DJing and we’re glad she did!
