The Frankie Rose Giveaway

Frankie RoseYou might recognize Frankie Rose from her days drumming for indie starlets the Dum Dum Girls and Vivian Girls. She’s come a long way since, forging a path of solo stardom that has made her a staple on the Brooklyn indie scene. Opting for a more sophisticated sound in her latest release, 2013’s Herein Wild, Rose draws upon past experiences to form the current, including her high school days where she performed operettas, as well as starring in “Annie” and “The Sound of Music”. She also cites Bjork and the Blade Runner soundtrack as heavy influences for her latest album, out on Fat Possum records.

After dropping “and the Outs” from her solo project and earning a “Best New Music” nod from Pitchfork for her sophomore release, Interstellar, Rose emerged a bit more polished, yet just as weird. She spent most of December touring Europe, and is now gearing up for U.S. dates, which include a stop in Pittsburgh on Sunday, January 26. 9PM at Brillobox.
