The Arcade Fire Giveaway
Influenced by their time spent in Haiti, Arcade Fire incorporates a Caribbean feel into their latest album, Reflektor. On Wednesday March 12, they make their way to Consol Energy Center as part of The Reflektor Tour. They’ve teamed up with Dan Deacon and Kid Koala, two very complimentary openers to suit their style. Prepare to look the part, because Arcade Fire has implemented a dress code of formal attire or costume.
Featuring a wide range of unexpected instruments in their sound, Arcade Fire creates an “eclectic mix of bossa nova, punk, French chanson, and classically tinged pop music.” Their fourth studio album, Reflektor, has already received much critical acclaim, including being ranked number 5 on Rolling Stone’s “50 best albums of 2013.” Arcade Fire’s music has also earned the indie rockers a Grammy and an Academy Award nomination for best original score.
Electric music composer Dan Deacon, is one of the founding members of the electronic music scene in Baltimore. Since his 2007 debut, his musical stylings have matured from whimsical to the reflective and complex sounds heard on “America.”
With albums such as “Your Mom’s Favorite DJ” and “12 Bit Blues” Kid Koala proves “capable of making turntablism engaging to a wider audience.” His live shows can range anywhere from interactive performances, like turntable bingo, to more soothing events like music to draw to. In addition to DJing, Kid Koala composes scores, produces music, and writes graphic novels with some of his artwork included on his albums.
The show starts at 7:30pm. Tickets range from $39 to $75 and can be purchased here or you can win a pair below. Just follow the rafflecopter instructions and keep an eye on your email. Winners will be notified March 10th and must reply within 24 hours of notification.
