The St. Vincent Giveaway

STVMAINAnnie Clark has completely reinvented herself since we last saw an album from her in 2011. Strange Mercy marked a tipping point for the artist, one that solidified her place in the indie world as a female musical force to be reckoned with. Her melodies and quirks are refreshing, given the current world of dime-a-dozen female-fronted indie buzz bands who might have a catchy song or two, but nothing that sticks to the ribs.

2014 has seen Annie land a “Best New Music” nod from Pitchfork for her self-titled fourth album, one that exposes a grittier side of the artist. The fair weather fans who’ve come to like the sweetness of St. Vincent‘s music are being exposed to a darker side, one that many adore, but might be hard for the casual fan to appreciate. At this point, she doesn’t need anyone’s favors. She’s paved her own way and has grown from the smaller clubs of Diesel and Altar Bar to the larger Stage AE, a room better equipped to accommodate her jarring riffs.

St. Vincent plays Stage AE this Friday, April 11. Purchase tickets here, or try your hand at our giveaway to score yourself a pair. Pro tip: Tickets are $22 in advance and $25 day of show, but if you buy them at the venue during box office hours, you’ll only pay a $3 fee per ticket instead of those crazy Ticketmaster fees. We’ll be picking a winner Thursday and notifying them via email, so keep an eye on those inboxes and good luck!
