Critically acclaimed singer/songwriter Elisabeth Maurus (A.K.A Lissie) harkens her blue-collar upbringing in rural Illinois to carve her own unique space in the world of indie folk music. Maurus was raised in the riverside town of Rock Island, IL. The granddaughter of an international barbershop quartet champion, she grew up singing in theater productions, until she eventually branched out and started performing at local coffee shops.
Her music is indicative of that DIY spirit, often performing rousing renditions of contemporary songs (her cover of Kid Cudi is a viral hit), Lissie absorbs the world around her and filters it through her unique lens and rustic guitar. On November 27th she brings that brand of emotive folk to Mr. Smalls for a live performance that, if anything like her Youtube videos, will be a memorable night.
