Kill Paris, aka Corey Baker, is in a league of his own. Although he’s been identified as a founder of love/soul-step – an emerging genre which mixes the sounds of dubstep with softer R&B and soul music – he doesn’t bind himself to one specified genre.

“I feel some artists attach themselves to genres too much,” he said in a past interview with The DJ List. “I want to make music that will stand the test of time and not just something that will mediocrely fit in with what ever is happening at the moment.”

After attending college in Florida, Baker moved to Nashville and started playing bass with several country artists in the city. Around this time, he started to experiment with DJ’ing, playing live sets in different venues throughout the Nashville area. Several moves and jobs later, Baker made his way to LA and started performing and touring regularly in 2012.

He then released his very first singles under the name Kill Paris, debuting his unmistakable sound: a combination of melodic basslines fused with funk and glitch elements. His first EP, To A New Earth, was released in 2012 and featured remixes from Gramatik, K Theory, Griz, Robert DeLong, and Candyland. In December 2013, Baker launched his own record label, Sexy Electric. Its first release, “Avalanches”, featured Alma, Sound Remedy and himself.

Kill Paris has since performed multiple live sets nationwide, including at major festivals like Coachella and Ultra. This past spring, he released his second EP, Foreplay, along with his first ever music video to accompany it. Peep the official video for “Falling in Love Again” below, featuring Marty Rod and Alma.
