Jurassic 5 Giveaway
In 1993, members of retired hip hop groups Rebels of Rhythm and Unity Committee got together to form Jurassic 5. Now, twenty one years later, they’re back to hit you with a killer show at Stage AE on Wednesday, July 30. Their stop in Pittsburgh is part of the Word of Mouth Reunion Tour, a unique chance to see the crew back together since their breakup in 2007.
Jurassic 5 has four studio records under their belt and a number of soundtrack credits for video games and documentaries. The crew’s last complete studio project, Feedback, dropped in 2006 and we haven’t been able to hear much of them since. Their 2013 reunion came as somewhat of a surprise to everyone, but they were still one of the top-billed hip hop acts at Coachella that year. Right after they got back together, we weren’t expecting any fresh tracks from Jurassic 5, but in 2014, the guys dropped their newest track “The Way We Do It.” Nu-Mark says they decided to drop the new track because “We just wanted to put content out there, since it seemed like it’s what people wanted. Plus Heavy D (who died in 2011) produced it, which seemed like a real surprise to people, instead of a superstar producer.”
