Phipps after darkSituated in the adjoining perimeter of the University of Pittsburgh and Carnegie Mellon University, Phipps Conservatory has always been a supreme point of pride for the residents of Oakland and Pittsburgh as a whole.

Founded in 1893, the diverse botanical gardens of Phipps Conservatory gives visitors the opportunity to explore a vast array of climates and environments all within the huge glass castle that encapsulates the exhibits. In addition to an exotic spectrum of plants, Phipps also hosts unique sculptures, installations, and local art work that uniquely compliment the natural beauty of the gardens. For many reasons, Phipps is considered to be a green leader among public gardens and other organizations, and in 2009, Phipps basked in international attention and appreciation when it played host to the leaders of the world’s 20 most politically influential countries during the G20 Summit.

Starting this year, Phipps has been partnering with the Pittsburgh Urban Magnet Project (PUMP) in order to host a unique series of  “Happy Hours.” The events are primarily socials that gear themselves specifically towards opening the doors of Phipps to young professionals for specialty cocktails, tasty bites, and a more laid back approach to exploring the lush gardens of the conservatory. Even frequent patrons of Phipps Conservatory admit that there is very little that compares to the serene splendor of the gardens after dark. It is a side of Phipps that very few see more than once.

The next “Happy Hour” will take place next Thursday, April 9, from 6-8PM. The last social sold out very quickly and the next one isn’t until July, so there is no time like the present to see what the hype is about!

Tickets are $35, but Nak You Out has done you the solid of reserving two tickets for the lucky winners of the Rafflecopter below. Don’t miss out!
