On Saturday, July 25, the Rivers Casino will host the annual Pittsburgher Burger Bash. The local restaurant-bar-and-burger competition will feature nearly a dozen gourmet burgers–from well known Pittsburgh restaurants, to new burger joints around town. In addition to voting for the best burger in the city, attendees are welcome to indulge in the abundance of music, art, and food options that’ll be present from local vendors, artists, performing bands, and DJs.

burgher2This year’s event includes 10-15 burger vendors who will compete for First ($2000 prize), Second ($1000 prize), and Third Place ($500 prize), as well as the People’s Choice Award. The People’s Choice Winner will win an advertising package valued at $1,500. Guests have the opportunity to vote for their favorites at a voting booth provided by midnightguru.com. Local culinary and celebrity judges will make an appearance, including WQED Pittsburgh’s Rick Sebak, who will appear as a celebrity guest.

Admission to the event includes samples to all participating restaurants, one vote for the People’s Choice Winner, a discount on Amstel Light, and free prize opportunities. Below is the tentative list for Pittsburgh restaurant participants:

burgher3The third annual 2014 bash drew in 3,000 people, who left with smiling faces, full stomachs and “even higher expectations for next year.” Twelve on Carson dominated the competition last year, taking home the First Place cash prize, as well as the People’s Choice Award. Of course we’re curious to see what they’ll bring to the table this year; and we also have a feeling the competition will throw down extra hard to make things interesting from start to finish.

This year’s Burger Bash will be held on July 25 from 2-7PM on the Rivers Casino Lawn in the North Shore. (777 Casino Dr., Pittsburgh, Pa.) All guests must be 21+, and a portion of the proceeds will be donated towards local charities. Charity partners this year include Biggie’s BulliesGirl’s Hope of Pittsburgh, and Pennsylvania Women Work.

Tickets ($40) can be purchased on the organization’s website now. Check out last year’s recap vid below, then get ready to stuff your face, support great causes, and enjoy the cultural and scenic beauty our city has to offer.
