Attention winos! Thursday’s your day! The Grand Tasting event of the Pittsburgh Wine Festival is Thursday, May 3 at Heinz Field. This event is celebrating its 10th year and has again partnered with UPMC to raise money for Discovery and Innovation at UPMC. This year will feature exclusive wine dinners in select restaurants with winemakers and educators leading the tastings. Hundreds of wineries will be represented, as will many educators and winemakers who will be on hand to help round out your knowledge of the art of winemaking, tasting and appreciation. Tickets are $125 for the Grand Tasting from 7-9PM.

For a complete list of participating wineries, go here. In addition to the festival, a series of tastings also take place at the Sheraton Station Square each month from now until July. The next one is May 15 and features summer wines – a collection of “Warm Weather Wines”. For a full list of seminars visit here.

If you know someone who is traveling from out of town to come to the festival, special rates are available at the Renaissance Pittsburgh Hotel downtown. Visit here for more details. The festival is also offering an online event booklet and an app, in case you have one too many sips of vino and become a bit disoriented. We won’t tell!
