The Queer Linker

Are you a queer citizen of Pittsburgh? If so, listen up! Friends, individuals, organizations and anyone else in between who has an interest in the queer community: you now have a new online resource for finding hip events around town. In an effort to centralize all the queer haps in Pittsburgh, this neat little calendar, The Queer Linker, has been put together.

We don’t know much about it yet, as it’s in the early stages of development, but it’s primarily focused on the arts and cultural events, much like our blog. We’re excited to see this website grow, as it’s a very needed resource for Pittsburgh’s queer community. Speaking of, have you heard about “Fossils: Evidence of Queer Life in Pittsburgh“, an event being held at downtown gallery Future Tenant. It’s part of the gallery’s “Trespass” residency series and is curated by Pittsburgh-based artist Dani Lamorte. Fossils is a one-week interactive exhibit that explores Pittsburgh’s queer past and creates evidence of the community’s vibrant existence today. Visitor participation is encouraged, whether fellow queer or ally. Simply stop by the gallery between noon and 4PM August 1st-August 3rd, or during any of their evening events, and make a “fossil”, which might be in the form of a photo collage, plaster hand print, or a snapshot in the photo booth. By making a “fossil” you prove that you exist in Pittsburgh, that your life and success are integral to this region, and that your voice deserves to be heard!

For more information, hop on over to Future Tenant’s page or the event’s Facebook wall.

Other great Pgh-ites doing fantastic things for the queer community include Drive By Drag and Lez Do It Pittsburgh, so be sure to check out their pages to be in-the-know when it comes to queer events around town.
