1385886_241670432656319_799677884_nIt’s that time of year again! Some of you may look forward to it for months, while others complain the ‘season’ continues to start earlier and earlier each year. That’s right, this weekend is the ‘official’ beginning of the holiday shopping season. If you’re like us, you would rather give your friends and family a special handmade piece of art instead of another lame gift card. If that’s the case, we have the perfect event for you. Handmade Arcade of DIY (HA) has you covered with tons of unique handmade treasures from regional artists. Pittsburgh’s first and largest indie craft fair is also celebrating their 10th anniversary this year!

What makes HA so special is they’ve successfully managed to flip the somewhat antiquated concept of craft and art fairs – like the ones where you can get crocheted toilet paper holders and kitschy country housewares. Instead they fill their event with the hippest, trendiest artists selling must-have handmade wares. This ain’t your momma’s craft fair!

It all goes down on Saturday Dec 7th from 11AM-7PM at the usual spot, the David L. Lawrence Convention Center, giving you plenty of time to check off everyone on your holiday shopping list. For their big 10th Anniversary they’ll be adding some nice bonuses for attendees. First, they’ll be offering a new locally-designed and produced commemorative pint glass that can be purchased along with other limited-edition Handmade Arcade merchandise, including new tote bags and posters. There will also be live music from Colonel Eagleburger’s Highstepping Goodtime Band and pop-up performances by Continuum Dance Theater. On the ones and twos, various DJs will be performing, including sets by Pandemic, Bad Seed, Max Terasauro of Pittsburgh Record Fest, and The Garment District.

We haven’t even touched on the awesome gifts you’ll find yet.

Above is just a tiny sample of the fun finds you’ll discover at Handmade Arcade. Vendors range from bath & body products, to apparel and jewelry, to art prints and housewares; a little something for everyone. Entry to the event is free, unless you want some VIP access, which includes first dibs on shopping. In that case, get yourself an Early Bird Pass. It’s only $15 and you get the exclusive chance to shop one hour before the event opens to the public, plus a sweet gift bag full of treats (like that awesome commemorative pint glass). Trust us, getting in early without the hustle and bustle will give you a chance to snatch up all the best goodies.

Lucky for you, we have 4 passes to give away. That’s two passes for two winners. Just follow the rules below and keep an eye on your inbox to see if you won!
