Pride Weekend in Pittsburgh

PGHPRIDEHaaaay! It’s Pride weekend, one of the busiest weekends of the year in Pittsburgh as far as events downtown are concerned. There are already SO many other events going on this weekend, too – from the Three Rivers Arts Fest to the Americans for the Arts conference – it’s hard to believe all of those things FIT! Either way, here’s a rundown of some of the things to do at Pride this year. It’s nice to see more and more establishments open their doors and minds to celebrating the LGBTQ movement.

Tonight, Friday, June 14: It’s the pub crawl! For $32, you can be shuttled around the city to the neighborhoods of Shadyside, the Strip District, Downtown, Lawrenceville, Squirrel hill and the South Side. Buses will drop off and pick up approximately every 20 minutes from 8PM to 2AM. Each stop features a drink special, complimentary shot or beverage, prizes and app or food specials.

Saturday, June 15: Gear up for Pride in the Street, the weekend’s flagship event. This year, Adam Lambert is expected to draw a much larger crowd than in years past. It’s also recommended you buy tickets to the beer garden unless you want to have a sober time. Nothing wrong with that! Tickets for the main event are $35 in advance, $45 day-of and the beer garden is $27 all-you-can-drink. Be sure to check out Honcho at Hot Mass afterwards for some extra-kinky afterhours action with great music that doesn’t stop until sunrise.

Sunday, June 16: The Pride March takes place from noon-1PM and is a wonderful, family-friendly way to enjoy pride during the daylight hours. For a full list of the weekend’s street closures, visit here.

There’s also a Pride app this year, just search for “Pittsburgh Pride” on any iOS or Android device. Keep up with all your favorite local LGBTQ-friendly establishments, who will be hosting a variety of special events throughout the weekend to coincide with pride.
