What do you get when you take a man with a serious passion for record collecting who owns his own iconic record shop in Pittsburgh’s Squirrel Hill neighborhood and three days of vinyl-selling madness? You get the first annual vinylpalooza, a novel idea from a local legend whose dedication to the art of the waxy format is unparalleled. Jerry’s Records is a Pittsburgh institution, opening roughly 35 years ago in Oakland and relocating to Squirrel Hill in 1993. In an age where physical music sales have become extinct to the recent resurgence of the vinyl format, Jerry’s knack for acquiring records is untouchable. A recent article in Pop City claims “Jerry might be safe from the threat of iTunes because, if you only count music put out in the 20th century, his collection might, insanely enough, be larger than Apple’s.”

Vinylpalooza begins Friday, June 15th. The hours are:

Friday, June 15th: 9 am – 8 pm
Saturday, June 16th: 9 am – 8 pm
Sunday, June 17th: 9 am – 6 pm

There will be over 50,000 records including LP’s, 45’s, 78’s and 12″ singles. This is a huge $1 blowout sale featuring overstock, warehouse finds and more. In addition there will be CD’s, VHS, cassettes, posters, books and more. Not to mention … a few additional dealers who’ve been invited to participate, DJ’s, refreshments and more. Patrons are encouraged to bring their entire family along and “dig in”!

The event also includes complimentary shuttle service running back and forth from the store to The Irish Center every hour.
