This year’s 2013 H’Art & Soul of Haiti benefit is poised to be one if its best. The fundraising event, with your donations, enables the Friends of Hôpital Albert Schweitzer Haiti to carry out programs that reforest the mountains of Haiti while also helping to rehabilitate patients who need special care.

Transforming Mr. Roger’s former neighborhood at the WQED Studio on Fifth with the art, sights and sounds of Haiti, the H’Art & Soul of Haiti benefit offers multiple venue spaces to mingle and dance to the garage pop trio Donora – a Pittsburgh based, Rostrum Records-signed band that has been the soundtrack to commercials for Nationwide Insurance and Apple iTunes, as well as MTV, Fox’s “Glee,” and ABC Family’s “Switched at Birth.”

Along with live entertainment, the party features cocktails, dinner, desserts and snacks provided by Big Burrito catering and beverage sponsors Boyd & Blair Vodka, Church Brew Works and Capital Wine and Spirits.

The focus of the event this year is the Haiti Timber Re-Introduction Project (HTRIP). Since 2006, the agroforestry project has transformed barren mountains into small forests and in turn, has helped to reduce flooding from rains and hurricanes that are prevalent on the island. Through this agricultural education, the HTRIP has given sustenance to farmers and a means of future income, as well as hope. And its one million trees planted to-date is proof of this.

Help celebrate this year’s honoree Matt Anderson, grandson of HTRIP founder Chris Snavely. Matt plays an active role in supporting the Friends, and has accompanied his grandfather on numerous trips to Haiti. Matt is the producer of “Step by Step Haiti,” a HTRIP-focused film, and also “Spirit of the Valley,” a film highlighting Hôpital Albert Schweitzer Haiti.

Both VIP and concert-only tickets are available.

The event is Saturday, September 21. VIP entry starts at 6:30PM and includes the full dinner and an open bar with special warm up performances by Thank You Rosekind and Delicious Pastries before Donora.

Concert-only doors open at 8:45PM with a live performance from Donora at 9:00PM and includes open bar of beer and wine and appetizers.

Help support those in need and have a good time at this year’s H’Art & Soul of Haiti Gala!
