Dinner with the Nolens Celebrates Two Year Anniversary
Break out the fine china; Arcade Comedy Theatre’s long-form improv comedy show, “Dinner with the Nolens,” is celebrating its two-year anniversary on June 6.
Starring husband-and-wife improv comedy veterans, Jethro and Kristy Nolen, “Dinner with the Nolens” brings forth a new comedy duo to act out a dinner on the first Saturday of every month. Building off of one word from the audience, the couples work together to create an off-the-cuff, 90-minute show.
Prior to acting out a meal on stage with a different comedy team, the Nolens get to know who they’re working with by taking them out to dinner in Pittsburgh’s Cultural District before the show. “Sharing a meal prior to creating scenes together sets the stage for a rich, intimate show that wouldn’t be possible if we just arrived at call time and shook hands,” said Jethro.
Special anniversary guests, Pittsburgh-based comedy duo Iguanatron, consisting of Brian Gray and Greg Gillotti, will join the Nolens on stage once more. Opening the anniversary show will be a short set by improv comedy group Change Machine, Arcade Comedy Theatre’s own in-house comedy team.
The Nolens, along with Abby Fudor, Randy Kirk and Mike Rubino, are co-founders of the non-profit Arcade Comedy Theatre, which also celebrated it’s two-year anniversary this past February. Demonstrating over 40 years of combined improv experience, the Nolens teach improv classes and perform regularly at the Arcade, as well as in various cities across the world. Kristy also serves as the Education Director at the Arcade.
Find out what’s on the menu Saturday, June 6 at 8:00PM. Tickets are $10 and can be purchased at Arcade Comedy Theatre’s website. ($5 student rush tickets are also available!)
