Challenge Nation is an awesome urban racing series in which participants embark on a scavenger hunt across the city for a variety of cash prizes, bragging rights and more. The challenge hits about 35 cities around the country each year and Pittsburgh is lucky enough to be one of the hosts. This is their second year coming to Pittsburgh and they’re pulling out all the stops for this one. According to their website this “‘Amazing Race’ style competition packed into one incredible day. Teams of two or more will dash around the city, racing against other Challengers for immortal glory (and cash prizes!) as they solve tricky clues, strategize the best route, and explore undiscovered corners of the city. Think of it like a 5K that tests your brains as much as your legs, with bigger prizes and a whole lot more fun–we guarantee you’ll have a blast!” Count us in!

Registration is still open, so head on over here if you’re interested in participating. They’re offering a discounted registration for $30 and full registration for $50. You’re competing to win $5K and advance to the national round, so it’s well worth the fee! Not to mention, a day of fun isn’t always free.

The challenge is designed for all ages and ability levels, but a sharp mind is key to succeeding in this competition. A combination of brains and brawn will get you to the top. This year’s challenge kicks off Sunday the 17th at Jerome Bettis Grille 36 in the North Shore. Check in is from 12:30 PM to 1:45 PM and the challenge starts at 2PM. So rest up, sharpen those brains and we’ll see you on the other side of the finish line this Sunday!
