The 1975 Giveaway
UK-based synth-poppers The 1975 are coming to 6119 for a show March 22nd. We realize that’s a lot of numbers to keep straight, so we’re here to school you a bit on the band. Their catchy tunes blend indie rock with early eighties pop funk to create a sound reminiscent of a “Foals/Vampire Weekend-type jerkiness with the middle of the road pop-rock of Deacon Blue” – Guardian. Though Pitchfork favorably compares the band to The Big Pink, lead guitarist/vocalist Matthew Healy cites the Talking Heads, My Bloody Valentine, Michael Jackson, Brian Eno and Sigur Rós as musical influences.
The band made their US debut in 2012 after signing with Vagrant Records. Mike Crossey, who has produced albums by the Arctic Monkeys and Foals will co-produce their first full-length album. Their latest, Music for Cars EP, released March 5, contains the frequently-praised track “Chocolate” which you can check out below:

Joining The 1975 for their Pittsburgh date are locals Of An Empire and These Lions, two other legit bands not to be missed! Peep some of their jams on our event page.
