Songwriters in the Cellar
Formerly known as the Engine House Winery, the relatively new Pittsburgh Winery resides at 2815 Penn Avenue in the Strip District. Known as a boutique “urban winery”, their wine grapes are sourced from some of the best vineyards in the world primarily found in California and South America. Sourcing grapes from two different regions allows for bi-annual winemaking, a process enhanced by Pittsburgh Winery’s traditional, minimalist technique. To learn more about the winery and view some exclusive photos, head over to PG Plate.
In addition to holding tasting room hours regularly Tuesday-Saturday from noon-7PM and holding events, the winery’s newest feature includes their “Cellar Stage”. The newly-completed stage will host performances from some of Pittsburgh’s best local bands. The first event, titled “Songwriters in the Cellar” is “derived from popular songwriter circles in LA and NYC. The artists are all on stage together taking turns sharing songs and stories, as well as collaborating on each others material, which always makes for a unique and spontaneous show.” The show takes place Saturday, March 2nd from 8-11PM and is $12. Featured performers include:
Morgan Erina and Guy Russo – Broken Fences
Zach Rock – Nameless in August
Anthony Jardine – These Lions
Tim Mulhern – Recycled Air
To hear samples of each performers work, head on over to our event page where we’ve provided links to their Soundcloud and Youtube accounts. Tickets available at the tasting room during normal business hours or by calling 412.566.1000 during business hours.
Stay tuned for more events from the Pittsburgh Winery, and if you can’t make it to the performances Saturday, we highly recommend stopping by for a tasting. Their wines are some of the best we’ve had!
