Lunar Gala Fashion Show
Tomorrow, the 17th annual Lunar Gala, a fashion show produced by CMU students, will be held at the university’s Weigand Gymnasium. The show averages over 1000 attendees each year and showcases a variety of dance, fashion, models and visual artists that span all majors. One doesn’t have to be majoring in the arts to submit a line, but this talented bunch of designers might lead you to think otherwise. This student-run organization is devoted to promoting fashion talent and innovation throughout the campus community. Dubbed as the year’s “most exciting campus event”, it’s not just for Students! Graduates and the general public are also invited to attend this grand affair.
The show features 18 student-designed lines, as well as participation from Pittsburgh stores such as Decade, Jupe/Panello Boutiques, ModCloth and The Pussycat. The night also includes three dance performances from Dancer’s Symposium Company, Nancy Geronian and Soulstylz. This year marks the addition of a Follow Along mobile app and video interludes from multimedia artists such as Scott Andrew, Audra Wist, Ben Tabas, Kevin Ramser and DI-AY Battad – a few of which you might recognize from past VIA or 6119 events.
Tickets went on sale in early Feburary, but are still available. Open seating is $20 and VIP is $30, which includes a small gift bag. Complimentary Red Bull will be provided during intermission. Doors are at 7:30 and the show begins at 8. All show tickets include entry to the official after party at Whim in Station Square. For those who didn’t attend the Gala, the after party is $10 for patrons under 21 and $5 for 21+. For more information on the story behind Lunar Gala, read this recent article by the Trib.
