Most Wanted Fine Art at the Waterfront
Appropriately described as “a community service organization disguised as an art gallery,” Most Wanted Fine Art has been an important fixture in Garfield since 2007. On April 12th, they opened their second location in the Waterfront, which is under new management. The shopping center reached out to the gallery as part of a redevelopment project for the area that hopes to also include farmers markets and musical performances. We recently spoke with Most Wanted Fine Art owners Nina and Jason Sauer about this new location. “The Waterfront is great place for an art gallery because it is already a retail marketplace. There are also people coming to the Waterfront for entertainment and mingling about the area in between dinner and a show…It’s something very different from the surrounding stores, but fits in perfectly.”
Most Wanted Fine Art has thrown many events at their Garfield location, participated in Unblurred, brought in local bands, and hosted the House of Oddities. At five times the size, the Most Wanted Fine Art at the Waterfront, located next to the Gap, can now house a wider variety of events and art shows. The new gallery’s back room currently displays the Bizarre Bazaar. This installation and curiosity shop features “beautifully grotesque creations from both local and international artists.” As a gallery, Most Wanted Fine Art will have a rotating salon show in the front of their showroom and each show will hang for 13 days. The shows will always open on a Friday, and include musical performances and free beer tastings from Rock Bottom Brewery for those 21 or over. The first salon show will open on Friday, May 19th and the band Round Black Ghosts will perform.
Apart from opening nights, the gallery hours are Mon-Sat 10am-9pm; Sunday 12pm-7pm. We’re told there are more exciting events in the works, so be sure to check out their Facebook page to stay updated. In addition to art exhibitions they plan to host sideshow events, live paintings, and art-making events to fulfill all your art appreciation needs.
