rawardspittThe first season of RAW: Pittsburgh is coming to a close and the first annual RAWards Semi-Finals show is approaching. After a successful first season, this is the last chance to check out a RAW showcase in 2013 and your only chance to vote for the People’s Choice Artist of the Year!

The RAW: Pittsburgh team has hosted nine monthly showcases this season that have featured over 220 local artists in visual art, film, photography, fashion, hair, make-up, music, performance art, and accessory design. Now it’s time to highlight the best of the best.

With two rounds of voting complete, local judges Veronica Corpuz, Director of the Three Rivers Arts Festival, Renee Piechocki, Director of Pittsburgh Public Art, and Adam Welch, Curator at Pittsburgh Center for the Arts have narrowed down the nominees of Pittsburgh to the top three artists in each of the nine categories.

During the RAW: Pittsburgh Semi-Finals show on November 22nd, the top 27 nominees will be showcased alongside handpicked local highlights from the 2013 Pittsburgh season. The nine local winners will be announced live at the end of the program. The People’s Choice Artist of the Year will also be announced at the event, which attendees will have the opportunity to vote on while at Cavo! The nine local winners go on to represent Pittsburgh in the final round of national judging where they compete against the top finalists from over 50 other cities for RAW: Artist of the Year in their category. Winners will also receive career boosting prizes such as a solo art exhibition, a chance to perform at Three Rivers Arts Festival, and recording studio sessions.

Pre-sale tickets are now $17 and will be $20 at the door. Ticket price includes hors d’oeuvres for the first hour courtesy of Cavo, an ice cream sundae bar made possible by Klavon’s Ice Cream Parlor and sweets provided by Colangelo’s.
