Meet Your Maker

Meet Your Maker is a thriller from local filmmakers Pat and Justin Francart. The black-and-white film tells the story of a scientist who must answer to the last survivors of a universe he unwittingly created and destroyed. The production of the classically-inspired film was successfully crowdsourced via a Kickstarter campaign. “We probably never would have made the film in the capacity we did without our Kickstarter funds. It comprised about 75% of our estimated budget,” states Justin. To maintain a classic science fiction aesthetic, the film was shot in black and white 16mm film. The retro fantasy aesthetic of “The Twilight Zone” and “The Outer Limits” comes back to life in this quirky science fiction work. “Meet Your Maker is a stylistically-retro science fiction tale that frames an old debate with topical scientific discoveries. The film stars John Amplas (Martin), Bill “Chilly Billy” Cardille, and Jonathan Visser. “Pat is my cousin, says Justin, and we worked together years ago on something for Pittsburgh Neighborhood Narratives. Fun experience, great project, but I think our segment is something we’d both like to forget. We’ve got some future projects in the works too.”

Meet Your Maker will be premiering at the Hollywood Theater in Dormont on October 29th. Doors open at 6:30 and the show starts at 7:30. Following the show, you can ask questions during a Q&A reception with the crew. Tickets are on sale now. More details can be found here.
