Hydra Pittsburgh

You might have noticed a little something called Hydra pop up in the past few weeks. It’s a collaborative effort between many promoters and multi-format artists who chose acts and exhibits that best represent their tastes and interests in a wide variety of ways. According to their website, “Hydra exists with the goal of bringing social/creative groups even closer together to show that cooperation, not competition, can yield the most rewarding results.”

I’m all about people working together, especially when it comes to partying. Two floors of sound and art will come together in none other than Mexico City’s downtown location, which will also feature a delicious buffet for the painless admission price of just $5. You can’t beat that.

The collective of artists and promoters who have come together for this project include:
Altered States
Cosmic Mafia
The Drawing Room
The Garden of Earthly Delights
Get Weird
Grey Area Productions
Matt Gondek / Wonderful Life Clothing

Each of these promoters have selected the following performers for the evening, which includes an array of deejays and bands who will play music sure to delight a variety of tastes:
Chico, Clevr, Cucitroa, Cutups, Depth One, Dizcrepnnc, DJ Thermos, DJ Skooze, Expensive Shit, Keeb$, Newtronn, Nikkels, Hunted Creatures, James Gyre, JTS and Paul Fleetwood.

As if that weren’t enough entertainment for the evening, projected visuals, sculptures, 3D art and more will be present from the following artists:
Brian Bullets, Casey Hallas, Kemical Phuture, Matt Gondek and Stephanie Armbruster.

Hydra is supported by Iron City Sound. Iron City Sound presented by Iron City Brewery fosters the advancement of local musicians, spotlights regional and national acts in Pittsburgh and blends our hometown music culture and Iron City Beer into one mighty, satisfying groove. Iron City products will be on special 10pm-12am – $2 bottles!

All proceeds for this event, including admission price and the silent auction will benefit The Arts Greenhouse.

So why not head on over this Friday, September 16 and support this creative endeavor? For only $5, which includes a buffet at 8PM, drink specials and all the entertainment your senses can handle in one night, why wouldn’t you?
