The Garfield neighborhood will be getting a Saturday tune-up on September 19. Presented by Penn Ave Arts in Motion (PAAiM), The Pittsburgh Art Car Festival makes its appearance for the fourth year running; bringing not only art and mobile masterpieces to the forefront, but also a full day of free, outdoor, car-centric fun for the whole family.

Of course, a big part of the festival is to showcase creative perspectives on transportation–aka super unique, decked out whips and bikes. But there’s a ton of additional entertainment in store for everyone, including music, dance performances, live art battles, art and craft vendors, kid-friendly activities, and a mobile masterpiece roundup to finish out the day.

Want to get involved? The Pittsburgh Art Car Festival is not only free to the public, but also for performers, vendors and vehicles!

If you’re a musician looking to light up the car-trailer-sized stage, or occupy the designated ground space for other types of performances, applications are still open and available to submit your info. Starting at 1PM, each set will be divided into 15-minute intervals and continue on ’til the end of the festival.

There will also be an outdoor space for vendors and crafters to display and sell their wares. If you’re interested in becoming a participating vendor, you’re still able to apply–just don’t forget to bring your own tables and chairs.

You might own a mobile masterpiece, yourself, but just don’t know it yet. Even if you only consider yourself an enthusiast, you still have the chance to display your creative car, bicycles, or other mobile artworks by applying beforehand. The first 30 applicants to submit/display will receive a unique artistic dash plaque to hang from their vehicles during the event.

The Pittsburgh Art Car Festival kicks off at 5231 Penn Avenue, on the corner of Penn and N. Atlantic Avenue. And if you’re not super close to the city, not to worry: the free event carries on throughout the day, beginning at noon and continuing ’til 6PM; so hit the road early, set your car to cruise control and come check it out.

Be sure to visit Pittsburgh Art Car Festival’s website for more info.
