Calling all Pittsburgh-based artists! Do you know about the Flight School Fellowship? Many organizations have come together to create this fantastic program – Pittsburgh Center for the Arts/Pittsburgh Filmmakers, Creative Capital Foundation‘s Professional Development Program, and funders, including The Pittsburgh Foundation, The Fine Foundation, and The Heinz Endowments. Participants are mentored via the Creative Capital Foundation program and a unique series of follow-up workshops. Designed to benefit the professional artist living and working in the city, Pittsburgh’s Flight School Fellowship helps artists to reinvent their careers. Curriculum involves a series of eight weekly sessions in which fellows will be led through workshops on each of the core elements of the Creative Capital curriculum, tailored specifically for artists working in Pittsburgh with an eye to the national and international art world.

Heads up: The program is intense. Demands are high and the workload is tough, but it should all be worth it to you, the starving artist! What better way to hone your craft and possibly make some money refining your art? If you want to take your career as an artist to the next level, consider applying. More information can be found on PCA’s website. They also have a blog.

The deadline to apply for next year’s fellowship is January 2, 2012. More information on how to apply can be found here.
