30/30 Night Sixteen Recap | Night Seventeen Deets
Well, thangs got a little weird last night at the Dance Like Domo party, but it was nothing we couldn’t handle. We started out working the door at Belvederes, which is always a good time. Their staff is friendly and most of the people who come to the bar are pleasant to deal with too. I managed to keep my tab under ten dollars, which is always a plus. This was my second time hearing Devin, one half of the Get Weird crew. He’s fairly new to DJing, and his choices complimented the styles of Cucitroa and Nikkels quite well. The jams at Get Weird are always danceable, which is what keeps folks coming back for more month after month. The pair always seem to pull off a successful and well-attended event. Looking forward to next month, guys!
Things got a little crazy after Belvies. We popped over to Eclipse to hear our friends Tom Brown and Aaron Clark pump out the house jams and then to Istanbul for some afterhours action provided by the one and only James Gyre. The DNB deejay Depth One that I heard last Wednesday was playing again, and reinforced my previous thoughts on being more open to drum and bass. I got home safely, but not unscathed. Broads need to learn how to keep their heels in check instead of bashing them into shins. Shit hurts!
We also had an Iron City promotion at the Hideout in Oakland. Talk about secluded – this place is really off the map! If you aren’t careful, you’ll be halfway to the waterfront before you even notice you passed the bar 5 minutes ago. We were there for the Yung’n Voorheez CD release party. Be sure to peep the photos below to see what you missed! Tonight you can find us at Mr. Smalls for The Twilight Singers. We’ll be handing out Iron Cities to some lucky folks, so be sure to come say hi!
