The PEMF Post – Part Two
Look at this fella. Who exactly does he think he is – standing like that oozing all that swag? He’s none other than Excision, that’s who, and he’s been laying down the bass-heavy party beats and turning heads in the process for quite a few years now. Dubstep might not be your thang, but if it is, chances are you’re familiar with this dude. His unique style is a blend of heavy drum and bass lines, smooth hip hop and grueling metal, a hefty combo for anyone to tackle. Excision does so with a certain knack few other dubstep artists of today posses, which is a primary reason he’s attained such a high level of notoriety. Our second installment of PEMF edumacation is for you bass heads.
You might be surprised to learn that Excision runs two labels, Rottun Recordings and EX7 Music, or you might not. He has produced many tracks with Bassnectar, collaborated with Pendulum, Datsik and Downlink, and has remixed the likes of Pendulum, Noisia, Wu Tang, Freestylers, Ctrl Z, Foreign Beggars, Apex and the mega label Lifted.
Excision’s music has been described as “filthy, brutal and unforgiving” – if that’s any indication as to what to expect from this fella. I don’t know about you, but I’m not trying to punish myself while at a show, I’m trying to party. Fans of this guy must be pretty masochistic. That’s hot. Some of his accolades include a string of top 100 hits on Beatport, as well as a “Best Dubstep Producer” nom at the 2010 British Music Awards. Peep this vid below to get a taste of the action.
Peep this for the lodown on the rest of the PEMF acts. Stay tuned for next week’s PEMF installments!
