summerrecessLet your young-hearted spirits roam free at Summer Recess this weekend…

On Saturday, June 18, the Spirit crew will be kicking it old school by bringing back those reminiscent feels of playground memories and carefree moments of childhood.

Throughout the day, attendees can check out a multitude of games and activities, local food vendors, and a stacked roster of musicians and artists with live performances going late into the evening.

Summer Recess activities guests can partake in will include water balloon fights; an outside dance tent; delicious eats from onsite local establishments (The Vandal, Butcher on Butler, Brandon Blumenfeld, Cafe D’ Amore, Pizza Boat, Onion Maiden, Millie’s Homemade Ice Cream); cold beverages in Spirit’s school bus; opportunities to board at Overcast Skateshop‘s pop-up skate park and grind boxes, and much more.

In addition to endless activities, music curation comes forth from like-minded creatives at local music label, Wild Kindness Records, as well as farESH Brand-a city staple featuring Pittsburgh-premium streetwear, artforms and perspectives from forward-thinking young minds.

Entertainment will also be provided by event partners and co-ops at Loyal Order–a monthly installment of creative local mashups challenging artists to break genre molds.

This year’s inaugural headliners include brass-electronica outfit, Beauty Slap; folk-rock Good Time gang, The Harlan Twins; and psychedelic rock band, Shaky Shrines, among an ample list of favorites from the 412.

The event is completely FREE all day, with a $5 cover after 9PM.

Come through, let loose, and enjoy a fun-filled, carefree afternoon.
