South By Southwest is just around the corner, and one of our very own here in the PGH has been invited to attend and represent a pool of emerging artists in our region. To take full advantage of this opportunity, SolSis is raising funds to promote themselves to the fullest extent during this year’s installment of the festival. SolSis is currently finishing their debut album and have designed a campaign, similar in nature to Kickstarter, to help fund the project. They have one week to go, and need your help to accomplish their goal of raising $4300 by March 12.

SolSis is comprised of the ever evolving Ma’Ve and Yah Lioness. Self-described as rebel hip-hop and rock with hard-hitting lyrics, SolSis continues to forge a unique path on the PGH hip hop and soul circuit, with the goal of generating esteem and elevation of the soul. “Influenced by the styles of Latifah, Lauryn, Erykah Badu, Res and others, SolSis is the development and collaboration of souls through music. The medicine in the applesauce, if you will.”

A full description of incentives can be found here. Perks include a digital download of their debut album and a deluxe merch pack at the $50 level, free admission plus one to their CD release party at the $150 level and a SolSis performance at the $500 level. Check out the video below to see what SolSis is all about.

Their fundraiser kicks off this Saturday, March 10 at The Shop at 8PM and features performances by SolSis, as well as DJs H. Lurkin and !K1! of NEWTRONN. For a suggested donation of $5-$10, you can show your love and support, and enjoy a night of live music, dancing, delicious food and beverages. We wish SolSis the best of luck on their SXSW journey!
