SOJA‘s music is rooted heavily in reggae, rock and dub. Their latest album, Strength to Survive, was primarily influenced by Bob Marley’s Survival, which SOJA’s lead vocalist Jacob Hemphill believes to be “the greatest reggae album ever made”. If you think fashioning an album after a legend is quite ambitious, then you may not be familiar with SOJA, a band who has come a long way in their career, amassing over one million Facebook fans, over 20 million YouTube views, and selling over 150,000 albums. In fact, this new release will be the band’s first for ATO, the label co-founded by Dave Matthews, who the band has opened for many times in addition to tours with the likes of O.A.R. and Matisyahu.

SOJA is returning to Pittsburgh tomorrow, August 15th and playing at the Altar Bar, a change from where they’ve played here in years past. They’re taking a break from the Unity Tour with 311 and Slightly Stoopid to play a solo gig here, so fans can expect a well-rehearsed and polished performance. Check out their latest video below:

Doors open at 6:30 and the show starts at 7:30. Tickets are $20 in advance and $23 day of show and can be purchased here.
