Jonny Rodgers is half of the sibling band Mighty Purple and since the early ’90s has been sharing his reassuring vocals with the world in some capacity. As a solo artist, he’s been utilizing a very orchestral live setup: tuned wine glasses, acoustic guitar, loop pedals and his distinct voice characterize his current performances. In a style that would surely garner praise from label mate Andrew Bird, Jonny’s live shows go on as if a World-class maestro were conducting all of its complex elements.
Rodgers has written, performed, and toured with various musicians across the spectrum of genres. Hitting stores on October 8th via Epitonic’s music label, his album Everything All At Once was recorded during a month-long residency at Butter Music and Sound in NYC. The songs on the album come alive during Jonny’s live performances, where he recreates them by looping tuned wine glasses and guitars using improvised beats and various electronic elements.
On October 8th, the same day as his album’s release, Jonny and his tuned wine glasses will be at the Pittsburgh Winery for a 21 and up performance at perhaps the most fitting venue. Tickets are $10 and can be purchased on Showclix. Doors open at 8pm.
