Honcho Debut Party
The raunch factor will be through the roof during the debut party for Honcho, a queer-friendly underground party that takes place in a warehouse on Liberty Ave this Saturday night after Pride. Melissa Ethridge ain’t got nothin on this shit. The evening features a great mix of local deejays and bands, visual artists, drag queens and big deal deejays, including Mike Servito who is a Bunker resident and on the Ghostly International label alongside artists such as Matthew Dear, Com Truise and Mux Mool. For all intents and purposes, this will be an all out rager. Whether you’re an ally or enjoy fondling people of the same sex, there’s something for everyone to indulge in at Honcho.
This two-floor warehouse party pops off at 11PM and goes until 7AM the next day. You better bring your A game to this one. There will be a cash bar, courtesy of Round Corner Cantina and you can BYOB late night. There will be Iron City Beer specials too, as this event is sponsored by Iron City Sound. This 21+ event is $10 in advance or at the door with wristband from 2012 Pittsburgh Pride in the Street, Humanaut’s Out Of Order, or Operation Sappho. The night features the following:
VIA installation and visual projections by Scott Andrew and Jonathan Armistead
Local deejays Ed Um, Aaron Clark and Dad Time!
Performances from Trogpite and Fogged Out
The Haus of Haunt (Veruca la’Piranha, Cherri Baum, Amy Vodkahaus, Kitty Klottsalot, etc.) with shows at 1:30 and 4AM
AND DRUMROLL PLEASE…
DJ Ben Manzone who “spent years collecting records, creating mixtapes and studying music production/audio engineering at the SUNY Purchase Conservatory of Music. He’s an up-and-coming producer known for his gorgeous classic house and disco sets at clubs such as Apt, Santos Party House, Passerby, Club 205, Club Love, Tribeca Grand and Le Bain at the Standard. Honcho has tapped him specifically for the sunrise set to lift us up and back onto the dance floor for the final hours.” I also find it very appropriate that his last name is Manzone because there will be a lot of men in the zone for this night. Feel free to define zone as raunchily as you’d like. BUT THAT’S NOT ALL FOLKS.
DJ Mike Servito who “is a DJ’s DJ — a lifelong music fanatic with a truly unique ability to move a dance floor. Fearless in his seamless transitions from one style to another, Servito has an unpredictability and a deep trust in his music knowledge that has garnered him a cult following over the years. Although Servito is a New York transplant, his DJ style is unmistakably Detroit. Mike Servito was among the original UNTITLED residents in Detroit, whose ranks include MATTHEW DEAR, DEREK PLASLAIKO, TADD MULLINIX, and RYAN ELLIOTT. He has played multiple Detroit Electronic Music Festivals and has held court with some of the best talent in the world. In 2008, Servito became an addition to Ghostly’s DJ roster. 2012 marks new territory with a Bunker residency in Brooklyn and representation worldwide, courtesy of Beyond Booking.” We’ll be excited to see what this cat drops. Bring your dancing shoes because it’s gonna be a DOOZEY!
