LOVE1With waves of bitter cold weather this past V-Day, we can’t deny the warm, fuzzy feelings felt few and far between. But this week, CMOA is turning up the temperature at their forthcoming edition of Third Thursdays.

On February 18, lovers and friends are invited to feel the LOVE as museum organizers welcome local late-night co-op, Hot Mass, and the esteemed Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra as hosts of their next creative installment.

At LOVE, guests will throw it back to 12th century France; browse their favorite sculptures and paintings amongst the PSO chamber musicians’ sweet melodies; and groove inside the Hall of Architecture with DJs Jarrett Tebbets, Aaron Clark, plus respective members of the DETOUR and Hot Mass crews.

LOVE6Laura McDermit, Manager of Social & Entrepreneurial Experiences at CMOA, assured us they’ve got an extra special night in the works for the monthly party:

The Third Thursday series is meant to redefine the museum experience by partnering with community taste makers. As soon as I started at CMOA, working with Hot Mass was at the top of my list; no one else in the city provides such cool and open-minded dance vibes. I knew that a collaboration with Hot Mass would provide an opportunity for museum visitors to interact with the museum space in a completely unique way. And we will be getting down in front of a 12th century church – so it is happening!

LOVE5According to Hot Mass’ curators, choosing the room was “pretty straight forward.” Taking place in The Hall of Architecture, the acoustics and ambiance made perfect sense for the afterhours aficionados to give their next sermon.

To top it all off, the crew will be bringing in a 4 Point-Impact Audio Soundsystem, their sound engineer, and perhaps, their most cherished piece of artwork–The Lady of Hot Mass.

So what can we expect to hear from performers this Thursday?

Artists will be vibing off the crowd with an improvised selection of sounds to highlight the mood.

Expect dance-worthy disco tracks via Jarrett Tebbets, while Aaron Clark promises to keep things funky. The DETOUR crew plans to kick things off with a laid back set, and they’ll be dropping a handful of tracks showcasing friends and local producers.

LOVE happens this Thursday, February 18, starting at 8PM. Tickets are $10 for general admission guests, $8 for CMP members, and $5 for students.

If you’re stepping out this Thursday, be sure to check out a few sets from the artists below to properly prep for this steamy affair:

Can’t make the party? Don’t fret (too much). Hot Mass and CMOA will join forces again for two additional collab events happening this summer and fall!
