The Halloween Weekend Party Guide
One of the best party weekends of the year is upon us, and in true NakYouOut fashion, we’re here to map out the best haps to maximize your fun quotient. The big news of the season is that Evaline isn’t happening this year. It’s going to be difficult to fill the hole in many Pittsburghers’ hearts left by that party’s absence, but I think we’ll manage. Super top secret parties seem to be a trend this year, but if you weren’t in the know enough to get invited to one, follow these suggestions to make the most out of your weekend. You can’t go wrong when you party in Pittsburgh.
Looking to maximize your Halloween party spirits and celebrate the holiday to its fullest potential? Consider attending Touchfaster’s production of Thriller on Friday, October 25th at Mr. Smalls, in which a group of over 20 local musicians have come together to form super group The Ruckus Bros. and pay tribute to the King of Pop in true Halloween fashion. There’s also KISS’ annual Trannies & Grannies party at Stage AE, which features a performance from MC Hammer. Just don’t trip on all that pant fabric floppin around during Hammer Time. The 14th Annual Halloween Hoo Ha at the Lawrenceville Moose promises to dazzle and spook while fully equipped with prime decor, food trucks and all the booze you can fit in your belly.
Supporting a good cause or indulging in some wholesome fun has never been easier. The MasGAYrade at Cruze Bar includes a costume judging contest, with proceeds going to Pittsburgh Lesbian and Gay Film Society/Reel Q/PGH International LGBT Festival. Planned Parenthood’s Cocktails for a Cause will be poppin off at There Ultra Lounge. Costumes are encouraged and the event features raffle prizes and a photo booth. If you’re in the mood for a laugh or 20, Arcade Comedy Theater’s HaLOLween is jam-packed with programming starting tonight and running through Saturday. Highlights include a live reading of Ghostbusters, a B-movie bash and Josh & Gab’s HORRORFEST.
If your costume isn’t too restricting and dancing is your priority, Re5et’s first annual Halloween party at the new AVA Lounge is the place to be. Detroit house legend Terrence Parker will be throwing down and that’s all you really need to know. Guaranteed good time. There’s also Fireball Whiskey’s 3rd annual Halloween party at Static, which is conveniently located right above Terror Town, one of the newest haunted attractions in Pittsburgh. Night owls can party on the late at the always poppin’ Hot Mass, which is celebrating a special Disco of the Dead edition featuring John Morales.
No matter what you decide, remember to stay safe, party it up and twerk with caution!
