We Were Promised Jetpacks Giveaway
Hailing from Edinburgh, Scotland, We Were Promised Jetpacks formed in 2003-consisting of band members Adam Thompson, Michael Palmer, Sean Smith and Darren Lackie. The high school buddies won their Battle of the Bands competition early on, which soon lead to their relocation to Glasglow, playing strings of “proper gigs in proper venues,” and eventually signing with Fat Cat Records in 2008. Shortly after, the band released their debut album, “These Four Walls,” in 2009, which was followed by “In the Pit of the Stomach” in 2011.
With their third album, “Unravelling,” released last October, WWPJ is bringing their alternative music back to Pittsburgh after a two year absence. Known for singles like “Quiet Little Voices” and “Ships With Holes Will Sink,” WWPJ contrasts their softer, more traditional early work with a new mix between wild and restrained melodies.
After over 10 years together, WWPJ continues to develop their sound, and even added a fifth band member in the form of multi-instrumentalist, Stuart McGachan, shortly before the release of “Unravelling.”
Pittsburgh’s own Daily Grind and Nashville’s We Speak in Colors will also join We Were Promised Jetpacks on stage on Wednesday, July 29. Doors open at 7PM. Tickets are $13 in advance, and $15 at the door; purchase them here, or enter our giveaway below to win two free tickets.
