Fans of Bricolage, local theater and Shakespeare will be delighted to learn of our next giveaway. We were invited to live tweet last week during their Midnight Radio season five premiere, Shakesburgh – a string of Pittsburgh stories with a Shakespearean twist.
For those unfamiliar with the Midnight Radio format, Bricolage transforms their theater for this series into a studio with a live audience and mimics the old radio broadcasts of simpler times. The series’ writers, producers and performers rely on voice acting, live sound engineering and a well-crafted text to bring the story to life. We enjoy this format very much, and so, were delighted to be a part of this season’s premiere and live tweet during the show.
The carefully crafted concoction of Pittsburghisms and Shakespearean puns will resonate with fans of the literature. Those less familiar with the thespian world of Shakespearean theater will still enjoy the show’s plethora of Pittsburgh-themed tag lines. “A yinzer will be tamed, hauses will be divided and a coward will die his last death.” It’s all in a night’s work for the folks at Bricolage, who have been delivering quality, original programming to theatergoers for the past five seasons of Midnight Radio, in addition to bringing other provocative texts to life.
There are two remaining performances for this edition of Midnight Radio – Friday, October 4th and Saturday the 5th. Both performances are at 9PM, and you can purchase tickets here. Musical guests The Living Room Chamber Music Project will provide the evening’s interludes during the 90-minute show.
You can also try your hand at our giveaway for a pair of tickets. Simply leave a comment below by taking a stab at a Shakesburgh quote. Here’s one from the show: “Uneasy lies the head that wears the crahn!” We’ll pick our favorite phrase Thursday, October 3rd, and the winner will receive a pair of tickets to the October 4th or 5th showing (winner’s choice). Good luck yinz!
