The Knocks + Alex Clare at Mr. Smalls
One of the most buzzworthy songs of 2012 was undoubtedly Alex Clare‘s “Too Close”, a result of appearing in a Internet Explorer commercial which catapulted him to fame, as many commercials seem to have that effect. He’s been touring relentlessly and hits Mr. Smalls next Wednesday, May 8th. We highly advise you to get there early, though, because openers The Knocks are just as worthy of attention, with heavy rotation on Australia’s Triple J. Their single “Make It Better” was released on Neon Gold Records and their hit “Dancing With the DJ” was #1 on both the Hype Machine and Japan’s iTunes charts. They’ve produced remixes for the likes of Britney Spears, Katy Perry and Marina and the Diamonds and their latest single, “Modern Hearts” featuring St. Lucia hit #1 on The Hype Machine last week.
Here it is.
Prior to their current tour opening for Alex Clare, The Knocks sold out NYC’s Bowery Ballroom upon their debut, and have also toured with Ellie Goulding, M.I.A. and Sleigh Bells. Their summer festival appearances include New York’s Governors Ball, Cincinatti’s Bunbury and the Ottawa Blues Festival. The party-like atmosphere they create with their live set is the perfect way to set the tone for Clare’s closing set. Keep an eye out for their debut full-length album that’s set to drop this summer.
