If you’re into bass-heavy, experimental electronic/world fusion, chances are you’re familiar with Beats Antique. If not, get acquainted, because they’re going to be blowing up the ‘Burgh next week at Mr. Smalls for a widely-acclaimed live show that will knock your socks off. The trio has been around since 2007, releasing four albums and two Eps since and is set to drop their latest album, Contraption Vol. 2 on the 18th, just one day before their Pittsburgh appearance. The group came to fruition via San Francisco’s performance art scene and is comprised of the musical alliance of producers David Satori and Tommy Cappel and is inspired and emphasized by their collaborative partnership with world-renowned belly dance performer and music producer Zoe Jakes. Their live show combines dynamic dance routines with modern technology, live instrumentation, brass bands, string quartets, glitch, and dubstep and has enchanted audiences everywhere from Coachella, Lollapalooza, Bonnaroo, Red Rocks and beyond.

Their spectrum of live and digital instrumentation combines skills born from traditional folk to hip hop and old school jazz and has been referred to as “electro-acoustic gypsy hip hop”. Preview one of their new tracks below before the album drops on the 18th.
